About Rock Hill Rerun
Rock Hill Rerun is your essential guide to local politics, where the same candidates run for the same offices with slightly updated PowerPoint presentations.
Our Mission
We believe democracy works best when citizens are both informed AND entertained. If we can get you to care about city council meetings through a combination of thorough research and well-timed observations about their absurdity, we’ve done our job.
Why “Rerun”?
In 2025, Rock Hill is experiencing what scientists call “political déjà vu.” Mayor Gettys and challenger Bump are facing off again, like a municipal version of Groundhog Day but with more campaign signs. The infrastructure debates from 2021? Still happening. That pothole on Cherry Road? Still there, but now it has its own Twitter account.
What We Do
- Track Campaign Promises: We pay attention to who promised what, when they promised it, and whether they’ve promised it before (spoiler: they usually have)
- Decode Political Speak: When someone says “fiscal responsibility,” we translate it to “I haven’t actually looked at the budget yet”
- Historical Context: Remember when that same development plan was “definitely happening” in 2019? We do.
- Fact-Checking with Flair: All our facts are real. Our commentary about those facts may cause involuntary eye-rolling.
Our Standards
Every article is built on a foundation of verified facts, public records, and actual quotes. We then add our observations, which range from “mildly amusing” to “did they really just say that?” We’re not making things up—reality is entertaining enough.
Why Local Politics Matters
Your city council has more impact on your daily life than most federal agencies. They decide whether your street gets paved, your trash gets collected, and whether that empty lot becomes a park or another storage facility. Plus, the meetings are free entertainment if you know what to look for.
The Team
Rock Hill Rerun is maintained by a dedicated group of local politics enthusiasts who believe that if you’re not laughing, you’re not paying attention. We’ve sat through enough city council meetings to qualify for hazard pay.
Rock Hill Rerun: Making local politics digestible since… well, since right now actually.
